Meet Mrs. Dunbar

My name is Shallyn Dunbar.  I was born in Salem, Oregon on November 1, 1978.  I have an awesome husband named Ryan and three lovely children; Jake is 10, Shelby is 7 and Lillian is 3.

Jake is in the 5th grade! He loves math and
history, he also loves hiking, backpacking
and playing outside!

Shelby is in 2nd grade and loves reading and writing, she
also loves any and all animals!!

Lillian is 3!  She attends Sonshine Preschool; she loves coloring and dressing up! After all, everyone
loves a princess!!

We recently sold our house in West Salem and are currently living in South Salem,
while looking for our "perfect" forever home.

We own 6 fish (3 guppies, 2 goldfish and an algae eater) and a 2 year old labradoodle named Porter.

I have lots of hobbies that keep me busy throughout the year and especially during the summer.  I love photography, scrapbooking, reading, camping, biking, walking and spending every possible moment with my family. My children are involved in basketball, swimming, soccer, camping, hiking, friends and lots more, we are always on the go!

Teaching
Career

I started my teaching career as an instructional assistant at Swegle Elementary School in 1999. I worked there for 2 years before transferring to Lamb Elementary School.  I continued as an Instructional Assistant there for 1 year before becoming a classroom teacher. I began my teaching career in 2002 teaching 2nd and then 3rd grade, I spent the following 9 years at Lamb, a school I hold close to my heart!

Then in 2011 I was hired at Kalapuya and it stole my heart, I couldn't be happier!! We are beginning our 3rd year as a school and I can honestly say this school is amazing!
We have a staff of teachers, assistants, custodians and parent volunteers that are
 hardworking and dedicated to the future of our students,
and don't forget our truly AMAZING principal, Jennifer Neitzel!!

 I can't wait to see what the new year brings!
